Alvin Kamara scores 4 touchdowns as Saints dominate Cowboys in Dallas

Alvin Kamara isn’t done quite yet.

For anyone questioning whether the New Orleans Saints running back could return to what he was earlier in his career — five straight Pro Bowl appearances from 2017 to 2021 — he ended that in Sunday’s 44-19 win against the Dallas Cowboys.

Kamara, 29, had four touchdowns to propel the Saints to a 2-0 start to the season. He scored from 5 yards out to open the scoring in the first quarter and then had a 57-yard reception from quarterback Derek Carr in the second. Kamara’s 12-yard rushing score later in the second quarter gave New Orleans a 28-13 advantage, and he put the game out of reach with a 7-yard touchdown late in the third.

The Saints improved to 2-0 on the season, while the Cowboys are 1-1.

Dallas’ defense, which ranked among the best in the NFL last season, gave up 432 yards Sunday. The Cowboys surrendered 190 yards on the ground, 115 to Kamara. Carr finished with 243 yards passing with one touchdown and one interception.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, one week after he became the league’s highest-paid player, was 27-for-39 passing for 293 yards, one touchdown and two picks in the loss.

Though some pundits questioned Kamara’s potential after two seasons of declining statistics, he has bounced back in a big way so far in 2024. In a Week 1 win against the Carolina Panthers, he had 83 yards rushing with a touchdown — 5.5 yards a carry — to go along with five receptions.

It’s early, but Kamara’s turning back the clock is a huge positive for New Orleans. The Saints host the Eagles in Week 3.
