Olivia Munn and John Mulaney announce birth of their second child

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney announced the birth of their second child together, a daughter.

Méi June Mulaney was born Sept. 14, Munn wrote Sunday on Instagram.

Munn was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and underwent multiple operations and treatment. She said in May that, amid the cancer treatment, she had a hysterectomy and opted to freeze her eggs in hope of having another child.

The hysterectomy, in addition to an oophorectomy, removed hormones from her body that would prevent the cancer from returning, but it took away the possibility of her carrying any future children herself.

“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” Munn wrote Sunday on Instagram. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel.”

Munn continued: “Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”

Munn said she is “proud of my little plum, my little dragon, for making the journey to be with us.” She added that Méi is pronounced “may” and means “plum” in Chinese.

“My heart has exploded,” Munn said.

Munn and Mulaney also have a son together, named Malcolm.
